LogMeIn Account Setup
- Open your web browser and navigate to http://www.logmein.com/ (you can also click the link to your left if your browser supports that function).
- Click the “Create an account“ link in the top-right of the page.
- Under the list of accounts types there is a LogMeIn Free account type. Click the “Sign Up“ link to the right of that listing.
- You will be asked for your email address. Enter a real email address as this will be needed to log in.
- You will be asked for a password. It will need to be more than six characters long.
- Make sure you have Personal Use selected, and you do not need to change the How did you discover LogMeIn field.
- Make sure that all of the check boxes at the bottom of the page are unchecked.
- Press the Create Account button.
- You should be taken to the My Computers page. In the top-right part of the page there is a link called “Add Computer“. Click that link.
- It should ask you what type of product or account you wish to use. Make sure It’s set to Free, but it may also not ask you as it will be your first computer and nearly all accounts I have created do not ask on the first computer.
- It should start downloading the software (it requires Java I believe) and it will most likely ask you to download or to allow it.
- After the LogMeIn install window pops up, hit the Next key. The I Agree key. The Next key. Change the description if it doesn’t look similar to USERNAME_LOCATION_COMPUTERTYPE (for example, Gus_Work_Laptop or Alex_Home_Desktop). Press Next. It will start the install process. The screen may go black for a few seconds during this.
- You have now completely installed LogMeIn and set it up to your computer. At this point you can now use your LogMeIn Account to access this computer from anywhere in the world so long as you have internet access, and this computer is on and connected as well.
