Meet the WSD Team: Gustave Wuterich

December 9, 2013

As our company is ever-evolving and growing, our team members are too provided with growth opportunities. Recently, our trusted team member Gus was promoted from Network Engineer to I.T. Manager. When you find yourself frustrated and on your last string with your computer problems, Gus is the man who comes to your rescue. With over 15 years of troubleshooting computer and network issues, Gus is always willing to help keep your (and our!) systems running properly. In his new role of I.T. manager, Gus provides direct assistance for the Chief Information Officer (C.I.O. - Noah Furhman) with all technical matters, both client facing and internal, and provides support for all technical systems of the company.

Below Gus answers a few questions in order to get to know him a wee bit. Enjoy!

What is your most challenging daily task? Balancing the constant influx of support requests, both internal and external, while also attempting to make headway against the constant tide of time on WSD's hardware infrastructure. What is your favorite daily task? Being able to assist hundreds of people get on with their daily personal and business tasks, and making sure that when they have a problem we're here to help. What do you consider the best possible working environment? A quiet dark room with lots of monitors, which is pretty much what I have now. Although another monitor wouldn't be amiss, if I could figure out where to put it. If you didn't have to work, how would you spend your day? Reading various science fiction stories, and camping every week or so. Favorite project you've worked on at WSD? The ongoing project of working with the CIO on the constant redux of our hosting environment to continually keep on top of the changing demands of our client base. What is your greatest accomplishment outside of work? To be able to see so far, standing on the shoulders of giants before me, knowing that, someday, I too will help support those that shall stand on my shoulders. Mac or PC? PC, as I'm a gamer. Favorite Sausalito lunch spot? El Patio (2633 Bridgeway Ave.),although SuperDuper (30 Miller Ave.) in Mill Valley is likely my favorite nearby spot, although my favorite place would have to be Mi Familia (55 Bellam Blvd.) in San Rafael as I've yet to find a better taqueria. What website do you visit most often? I'm an avid member (although not very active) of http://www.overclock.net/, especially for the community-run news feeds. Favorite quote? A full quotation of Robert Frost's poem, "Fire and Ice": Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.
