The site belongs to ASA Gold and Precious Metals Limited, a closed-end management investment company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (symbol: "ASA"). ASA invests at least 80% of its total assets in securities of companies engaged in the exploration, mining, or possessing of gold or other precious metals. The company was established in 1958 in South Africa and is one of the oldest investment management firms focused solely on the precious metals and mining industry. After vetting several vendor options, ASA selected WSD due to the customizability of our content management system (CMS),the strength of our design portfolio, and the strength of our financial industry references. The new asaltd.com has a custom CMS that allows the client to easily organize documents, investor information, inquiries, and news. ASA's old web site was powered by a classic ASP CMS, which was frustratingly outdated and exceedingly slow to use. WSD also redesigned the front end of the site from the ground up. The new site design stays true to ASA's existing "gold" brand identity while creating a modern Web 2.0 feel that today's net-savvy users expect. From an SEO perspective, WSD paid particular attention to optimizing page load speed and body text content in order to comply with recent updates to Google's Panda and Penguin algorithms. Additional site features include: customizable buttons so the client can update links while keeping the look on the front end consistent, and a live ticker symbol from QuoteMedia to provide site visitors with current stock market information. WSD also provided strategic advisory services in regards to domain registration, hosting, and DNS management.
